Local area
Luhme/Heimland is about 115 km distant from central Berlin, the northernmost part of Brandenburg still within the Ostprignitz-Ruppin county, in the Rheinsberg jurisdiction. It is easiest to get here via the A24 autobahn or by train via the Rheinsberg train station (from Berlin-Lichtenberg or Berlin-Hennigsdorf) about 12 km from here.
Bicycle and foot paths in the conservation area have good signage and pass directly through our immediate area.
The local area offers many interesting highlights for tourists, such as the castle in Rheinsberg and many cultural attractions in that city, the city of Neuruppin with its beautiful Old Town (Altstadt), the domestic animal park in Kunsterspring and innumerable lakes, canals, locks and swimming areas.
Six kilometers from us is Flecken Zechlin with its well-preserved historical village center, shopping, post office, electronic cash machine, and tourist information. Ten kilometers distant is the Zempow Organic Farm, which is not only a prime example of sustainable organic agriculture and a popular tourist attraction, but also a bastion of resistance to plans from the military to use the area for bombing practice.
